Packie Duignan

(1922-1992)

Packie was a legendary Irish flute player from Arigna, Co. Roscommon, whose style was strongly influenced by the recordings of John McKenna, a local flute player who had emigrated to the United States but who had made many recordings in the 1920's and 1930's

In the eary 1950's he played with the Shannon Star Ceili Band, and over the years he has played on radio and television and won the occasional Feis.

Packie appears on the Temple Records release 'Irish Traditional Music' (COMD2079), also featuring Seamus Horan, John Rea, Sean McAloon, Sean Wynne & Robin Morton
