Scots Trad Music Awards: Christine Primrose wins Gaelic Singer of the Year' Award!Congratulations to Christine Primrose, who won a well deserved award for 'Gaelic Singer of the Year' at the Scots Traditional Music Awards last weekend. Christine is a great Gaelic singer, and a trailblazer, who has been singing traditional Gaelic song all her life, winning many prizes at the Mod and the Pan Celtic Festival. She has rightly become a highly regarded and sought after tutor & artist who has done so much to introduce the music to a wider non-Gaelic speaking audience, both in Scotland and beyond, and it's excellent to see her receiving this recognition for her achievements.

Thanks to all who supported both Christine & Battlefield Band's Alan Reid, who was also nominated for an award (Composer of the Year). Unfortunately Alan didn't win this time, so commiserations are due to him, but Alan, Battlefield Band, and all at Temple Records would like to offer their congratulations to Mairearad Green from Achiltibuie, who won that category this year. She's a fantastic, creative musician, and is rightly becoming recognised for her compositions. Well done Mairearad!
Credit is definitely due to Simon Thoumire and his team who, as always, put in a massive amount of organisational work to make the awards run smoothly, and do a great job in terms of promoting Scottish Traditional Music
