COMD2059 John McCusker - John McCusker John McCusker - John McCusker John McCusker COMD2059
All good things take time, and this CD was worth waiting for. John had to gather material together (mostly self-penned) and also find time to rehearse and record with his guest artists in between touring and playing with Battlefield Band. As those of you who have seen John perform with the band will know, he plays many instruments. On this album he plays, piano, whistle, accordion and cittern, but fiddle is his main love and it is the fiddle that he features on this, his first solo album (released in 1995).
Guests on this album include: Ian Carr (guitar), Iain MacDonald (flute), Simon Thoumire (concertina), Simon Thorpe (bass), Wendy Weatherby (cello) & Alan Reid (piano/sythesiser)
ALISTAIR CLARK - the delicacy and finesse with which McCusker handles these lovely tunes are sure signs of a young master...
ROB ADAMS, GLASGOW HERALD - ... a musician of considerable maturity, his playing has a delightful lilt on waltzes and slow airs, and a steely percussiveness on reels.
