Mike Katz is a superb bagpiper and multi-instrumentalist who joined Battlefield Band in late 1997 and has contributed massively to the music and accessibility of the legendary group. Originally from LA, Mike started learning the pipes young, and learned and played in the same pipe band as another Battlefield Band alumni; Eric Rigler. He attended Edinburgh University aged 18 and has lived in Scotland ever since, playing in various bands and combinations, including Scottish Gas Pipe Band, and Ceolbeg, before joining Battlefield Band.

A hugely respected musican & composer, Mike plays Highland pipes, small pipes, various whistles, guitar and is also a fine bass player.
