In early 1985, Battlefield Band, Alison Kinnaird and Robin Morton were asked to produce music for a television series about the National Trust for Scotland. the trust own and protect a wide range of the natural and man-made heritage of Scotland; castles, 'big-houses', gardens, battlefields, mountains, islands and coastlines.

This first album of soundtrack music (Music In Trust - Vol I) proved so popular that it was quickly followed with a second volume (Music In Trust - Vol II). In 2005 these two albums were re-issued as this double album set, which is available for the same price as a single album.
