John McCusker - John McCusker

Select from currently available formats:

Released in 1995, this is the debut solo album from a young John McCusker, now widely regarded as one of Scotland’s most accomplished and versatile musicians. John joined the legendary Scottish folk outfit Battlefield Band aged just 17, remaining with the line-up for the next 11 years, touring extensively around the world and featuring on seven of the band’s albums, and this album was released during this period.

Featuring mostly self composed tunes, multi-instrumentalist John plays piano, whistle, accordion and cittern on this album but, as always, his exceptional fiddle playing is the main attraction.

Guests on this album include: Ian Carr (guitar), Iain MacDonald (flute), Simon Thoumire (concertina), Simon Thorpe (bass), Wendy Weatherby (cello) & Alan Reid (piano / synthesiser)

"...the delicacy and finesse with which McCusker handles these lovely tunes are sure signs of a young master..."
ALISTAIR CLARK

"... a musician of considerable maturity, his playing has a delightful lilt on waltzes and slow airs, and a steely percussiveness on reels"
