Ann Heymann - Queen of Harps
'Queen of Harps', Ann Heymann's definitive wire-strung harp solo recording, documents the virtuosic capability, of both the instrument and musician. The wire-strung harp (or clarsach) was the harp of the Gaels of Ireland and Scotland. Ann, from Minnesota, is recognised worldwide as the foremost exponent of the instrument. Through her knowledge of traditional music from her Irish American family background, and her study of the surviving music and manuscripts, Ann has re-invented the techniques necessary to play this majestic instrument and has spearheaded the wire-strung harp revival.
